Danny Ayres is back to lead the Mildenhall Fen Tigers for the forthcoming 2019 season and he can't wait to get the season underway.
Ayres who missed the end of the 2018 season with a broken wrist is the first rider to sign for the Fen Tigers as they aim to go one further than they did last season.
Ayres admitted it was a bitter sweet way to end the season but can't wait to get the Fen Tigers roaring again.
He added: "Last season was so good in so many ways and in my opinion if we hadn't suffered all those injuries at the end we would have won the league.
"We had an awesome time with all the youngsters in the side but in the end it wasn't to be but that has gone now and I'm excited for the new season.
"The club is under new management and I hear the plans for the club are exciting and the side they are putting together is another good one.
"I'm really pleased to be back as I live locally and love the fans at the club. Let's hope we can have a good season."
Ayres is still hopeful of a spot in the Championship and admits he is ready to take on both leagues.
He added: "I know what it takes to ride in the Championship and felt in the best shape I've ever been in before I broke my wrist at Leicester guesting for Birmingham.
"I'm now fully fit and have been working hard in the gym and will be in top shape come March.
"I'm ready to go and I'm eager for the phone to ring."
